A Touch of Class in the Delightful Durham Dales

Today we journey to Weardale, passing many pretty villages to Stanhope and the Durham Dales Centre where we make a break for lunch. After lunch we cross the wild moorland to Barnard Castle, where free time is available before continuing to Staindrop with views of the beautiful Raby Castle.

Departing the hotel after breakfast we travel to Preston Park in Stockton on Tees for our included visit. Explore the museum and Victorian Street, experiencing life as it was in 1895, stopping by the sweet shop, toy shop, and blacksmiths. After our visit we re-join the coach and travel the short distance to Castlegate Quay, where we enjoy a scenic & tranquil return river boat cruise, which includes soup, sandwiches and tea/coffee.

This morning we travel to the ancient and historic city of Durham, acclaimed as a World Heritage Site, it is dominated by the magnificent Norman Cathedral and Castle, high above the River Wear. Explore the city with its labyrinth of little streets and alleyways, or you may fancy a stroll by the river. In the afternoon we have a scenic drive back to the hotel.

Departing the hotel after breakfast we make our return journey, with suitable comfort breaks en route, to arrive home approximately late afternoon.
