The Lake District is renowned for its breath-taking beauty, immerse yourself in the region’s stunning landscapes, featuring crystal-clear lakes, rugged fells, lush valleys, and panoramic views. Grange-over-Sands is an elegant town, with strong reminders of its heyday as a fashionable seaside resort. It is the perfect place to indulge in a very English pastime –a leisurely stroll along the fine promenade, a walk in the Ornamental Gardens and afternoon tea in one of the many fine cafes.

 

A long sweeping drive leads to the large Victorian building of the Cumbrian Grand Hotel. Set in 20 acres of private gardens and woodlands. All of the en suite bedrooms are furnished in a traditional style with TV , telephone and hospitality tray. There is a large bar/lounge area. The hotel has a lift to all floors.

Itinerary

Departing from our local area we journey through Yorkshire scenic countryside making a break at Settle for lunch, continuing to Carnforth Station, the setting for the classic 1945 film ‘Brief Encounter’ where we make a short break, before arriving at the Cumbria Grand Hotel for our stay.

Today we have a free morning in Grange-over-Sands which is an elegant town, promenade, lake and gardens, before our scenic drive to Cartmel where free time is available.

Departing the hotel after breakfast we journey to Newby Bridge and Haverthwaite Railway Station from where we enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey to Lakeside pier, it is here where we board our boat for a cruise on Windermere, before arriving at Bowness where free time is available. Departing Bowness we take a scenic drive back to the hotel.

Departing the hotel after breakfast we make a scenic journey alongside Coniston Water associated with Donald Campbell before free time in Coniston. Departing Coniston we make our way to Ambleside, Rydal and Grasmere prior to returning to the hotel.

Departing the hotel after breakfast we travel to Skipton, where we make a break. Leaving Skipton, we continue our return journey to arrive home approximately late afternoon.
