Departing from our local area we journey to the picturesque market town of Bury St. Edmunds with its breath-taking cathedral, fascinating Abbey ruins and shopping centre. It is here where we make a break for lunch prior to arriving at the hotel.
We spend the morning in the attractive riverside town of Woodbridge, where the pedestrianised town centre makes for a relaxing morning of shopping and exploring. This afternoon we head to The Suffolk Punch Trust, where a guided tour, tractor and trailer ride around the site and introductory talk are included. The Suffolk Punch Trust aims to protect the rare breed of Suffolk Punch Horse, as well as other interesting locally-bred rare breeds.
A scenic day as we journey through the chocolate box villages of the region, which includes Clare, Cavendish and the charming village of Long Melford; known for its shops, galleries and Suffolk inns. Finally we travel to Lavenham, voted one of Britain’s finest preserved villages, where free time is available.
Departing the hotel, we explore the 50 mile stretch of heritage coastline and an area of natural outstanding beauty, before making our first break at Aldeburgh, one of Suffolk’s pretty coastal resorts where free time is available. Continuing to Thorpeness, we see the old water tower known as ‘The House in the Clouds’, before travelling to Leiston and to the pretty resort of Southwold and its famous pier.
After a leisurely breakfast, we make our return journey with suitable comfort breaks en route to arrive home approximately late afternoon.
