Itinerary

Departing our local area we travel south with adequate comfort breaks en route to arrive at the Livermead Cliff Hotel.

Today is a free day to explore Torquay, or if you prefer join us for a pretty walking tour to Cockington. Many villages lay claim to being ‘picturesque’, but the village of Cockington is the real deal. Take a walk back in time along Cockington’s narrow lanes, lined with thatched houses with their colour washed walls of stone and cobb, You’ll experience a quiet charm that is a quintessentially English with its manor house, cricket ground, thatched pub and cream teas. Everything about Cockington oozes history with many of the cottages dating back to the 16th Century and some, like the old Forge, mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

Departing after breakfast we enjoy a full day tour of the Dartmoor National Park, including Bovey Tracey, Postbridge, Two Bridges and Princetown.

This morning we visit Buckfast Abbey, perched in the shadow of Dartmoor and surrounded by a beautiful, wooded valley and the River Dart. At the heart of this working monastery is the Abbey Church, while the grounds are also home to a book shop, gift shop and Monastic Shop with an extraordinary selection of products made by nuns and monks. The tranquil gardens, including a lavender garden provide the perfect place to take a stroll. After our visit we journey to the fishing town of Brixham with free time available to explore and for lunch, prior to our return journey to Torquay on the Western Lady Ferry, admiring the panoramic views of the English Riviera.

Today we journey to Paignton to board the Dartmouth Steam Railway train for an enjoyable 30-minute journey to Kingswear, with breath-taking views of the coastline along the way. On arrival we cross the River Dart on the foot passenger ferry to Dartmouth, where we join a one hour river cruise, passing stunning scenery, including Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles, Dittisham village and the Royal Britannia Naval College.

Today is a free day to explore Torquay.

Departing the hotel after breakfast, we make our return journey with suitable comfort breaks en route to arrive home approximately late afternoon.
