Itinerary

Departing our local area, we journey to Welshpool, where free time is available for lunch prior to arriving at the Cliff Hotel & Spa.

Departing the hotel we journey along the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline to Aberystwyth where we make a break, before our included return journey on the Vale of Rhiddal Steam Railway to Devil’s Bridge. See the countryside change as you travel through wide open fields and meadows, woodland and rugged mountain scenery. The narrow track gauge allows the railway to follow the contours of the terrain with many sharp curves and steep gradients which add to the railway’s charm. Listen to the sound of a powerful narrow gauge steam locomotive working hard to climb 700ft (200m) during the 12 miles from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seen soaring high above the valley floor and breath-taking views can be enjoyed by all.

Departing the hotel we make our journey through the Pembrokeshire National Park and the Preseli Hills to Haverfordwest, a market town full of history, continuing to Roch and Newgale with breath-taking views over St. Brides Bay to Skomer and Ramsey Island before arriving at St. Davids, the smallest Cathedral City in Britain, and the shrine of Wales’ Patron Saint, it is here where free time is available.

Today we have a leisurely journey through the picturesque Teifi River Valley to Cenarth, famous for its waterfalls, salmon leap and National Coracle Centre where we make a break, before continuing to the pretty Welsh market town of Cardigan.

Departing the hotel, our journey takes us to Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre, well-known for its long-established tradition of daily feeding of red kites, where we make a break before continuing our homeward journey with a suitable stop for lunch.
