Departing from our local area, we journey to the Scottish port of Cairnryan, with suitable comfort breaks en route where we board the ferry for our afternoon crossing to Belfast. On disembarking in Belfast, we continue to the Ballygally Castle Hotel, overlooking the golden sands of Ballygally Bay, for our overnight stay and evening meal.
Departing after breakfast we journey around the beautiful Antrim Coast, for you to enjoy the stunning scenery, before arriving at the Giants Causeway Visitor Experience. With its remote glens, sheer cliffs, tiny fishing villages, pristine beaches and colourful history, the Antrim Coast is one of the world’s more stunning coastlines. The Giants Causeway is steeped in myths and legend and is set in spectacular dynamic coastal landscape. They say the Giants Causeway was the stomping ground of giant Finn McCool, who lived in these parts nearly two thousand years ago, discover the story and experience the science at the visitor centre. Departing the Visitor Centre we journey to Coleraine, where we board the train for “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world” as described by Michael Pailn. The train runs alongside golden beaches with ocean views that extend beyond belief, at the same time, you will travel through one of Ireland’s longest tunnels beneath the Mussenden Temple. Re-joining our coach, we journey to the 4-star Clanree Hotel for our mainstay accommodation.
After breakfast, a local guide will join us on the coach as we journey to Malin Head, the northernmost point of Ireland before travelling to Derry, where we have a gentle walking tour. Situated on the banks of the River Foyle, Derry also named the Walled City, is the only walled city in Europe with its surrounding wall still completely intact, explore its history and culture, and take in the sights.
After breakfast we journey to Donegal for you to see the sights. Ideally situated near the mouth of Donegal Bay, Donegal town boasts a panoramic backdrop provided by the Blue Stack Mountains, a stately castle, a friendly population and an array of hotels and restaurants fit for every traveller and every taste. In the afternoon for those who wish, there is an opportunity of a 90-minute boat cruise of Donegal Bay on the famous Waterbus, where we can view the seal colony on Seal Island and Donegal Bay’s many small islands with full commentary (extra cost*).
After breakfast we depart Letterkenny and travel through the tranquil Irish countryside to our overnight Hotel.
Sadly, we bid farewell to Ireland and travel to the port of Dublin for an early sailing to Holyhead. Due to the early start, we have included a late breakfast/brunch as you cruise over the Irish Sea. On disembarking at Holyhead, we continue our journey with an adequate comfort break to arrive home early evening.
